Description:
Client is seeking a self-motivated Mainframe Developer to participate in the development and support of highly visible systems related to policy rating and issuance, creation and viewing of policy paper, integration with underwriting systems and external services.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Understand and translate business and functional requests into program/applications
Participate on project teams and effectively interact with business partners, vendor partners, Business Analysts, Architects, Quality Assurance specialists, and management
Design, code, test and implement application program code for both new and existing applications
Develop and execute test scenarios and test cases for unit, integration and system testing
Ability to produce concise and accurate documentation for projects
Adhere to project management methodology and standards by following Waterfall, SAFe Agile, Scrum and Kanban.
Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design
Comply with architectural standards; re-use existing software structures where applicable
Take the lead on assignments and mentor/provide guidance to other staff members
Collaborate effectively across functional business and technical areas
Flexible and effective at multi-tasking
Participates in on-call production support of applications/platforms in multiple environments; escalates issues following procedures to minimize system downtime
Monitors the operational health and performance of production systems
Complies with all I/T policies, procedures and controls
Qualifications:
3-5 years of Mainframe experience with any of the following: JMS, CICS, MQ, COBOL, JCL, ZEKE, CLISTS.
Understanding of how to Migrate applications to Server-less Architecture, which are scalable and Secure.
Java development experience is a plus
Design database model, Optimize database performance by fine-tuning SQL queries and creating indexes. Develop and maintain PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Functions in DB2
Perform complex troubleshooting of critical problem tickets, resolving defects in existing production software and provide root-cause analysis
Experience in creating technical specification, software architecture, testing plan, release and deployment documents.
Excellent written/verbal skills and demonstrated ability to meet commitments under pressure
Works successfully in a team environment and independently as required
Ability to take full ownership of work and show initiative as needed; Committed to hard work and a high ethical conduct.
