HIRING: Mainline Utilities Operator
At Layton Services, we're a commercial, industrial, and residential excavation contractor that has been family-owned and operated in Central Ohio for nearly 30 years. Our services primarily include earthwork, site development (mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep), and underground utilities (water main, fire line, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and detention systems.) Located in Newark, Ohio with a majority of work in Columbus, Licking County, and the surrounding area.
Summary of Job Description:
Layton Services is currently seeking an experienced excavator operator who primarily digs in trenches made for installing water, sewer, and storm-sanitary utilities. This individual must have experience digging in trench boxes, single and double-stacked preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operating excavators with precision to dig on grade, possibly around existing utilities.
- Collaborating with your pipe layer, foreman, and superintendents to ensure safe execution and project completion per the plans.
- Reading and understanding plans and cut sheets.
- Digging with and moving trench boxes with an excavator
- Ability to dig in double-stacked trench boxes when needed.
Role Qualifications:
- 3+ years of industry/ construction site experience
- 2+ years of excavating to install mainline utilities.
- Knowledge of excavation, trenching, and shoring practices
- Excavate and grade for mainline utility installation according to project plans.
- Excavate around existing utilities with precision.
- Ability to operate multiple types of heavy machinery.
- OSHA Certified competent person for trenching & shoring
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license preferred.
- Must possess the ability to relate well to others including a positive attitude.
