About the Job
Serves as Maintenance Mechanic for a specific Work Group. As such is responsible for installing, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining plumbing equipment, and performing other related tasks supporting site maintenance and services. Follows current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adheres to all appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP) and environmental, health and safety-related policies.

- Performs scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) checks and services on boilers, condensate pumps, humidifiers, heat exchangers, air dryers, compressed air systems, hot water skids, chilled water skids, process and potable water skids, water softeners, and associated utilities.
- Responsible for servicing and repairing boilers, condensate pumps, humidifiers, heat exchangers, air dryers, compressed air systems, hot water skids, chilled water skids, process and potable water skids, water softeners, and associated utilities
- Duties include but are not limited to performing such tasks as rebuilding and replacing pumps, rebuilding and replacing steam traps, back flow stations, check valves, urinals, toilets, sinks and other plumbing equipment. Duties also include repairing leaks, unstopping clogs, and adding new eyewash, sink and toilet stations. When performing such services and repairs, follows SOP; related manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications; and safe work practices.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs: boilers, pumps, control valves, heat exchangers, humidifiers, chemical injection systems, compressed air systems, and safety showers, eyewash stations, sinks, toilets, and urinals.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs: steam traps, back flow devices, check valves, solenoids, control valves, condensate pumps, constant pressure pumps, and other associated equipment.
- Able to locate information in operator equipment manuals.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and safely coordinate the shutdown of equipment for maintenance.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervision the status and concerns of critical equipment.
- Works together as a team with other trades as assigned.
- Able to work assist other groups in bringing failed equipment back on line.
- Troubleshoot failed plumbing, pneumatic, steam, condensate, and gas systems and safely make the necessary repairs.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Work Group Leader including but not limited to driving company vehicles to off-site locations to obtain/deliver equipment and/or parts.
- High School diploma
- Valid Virginia State Driver’s License
- Good understanding of plumbing systems and applicable state codes
- Preferred: Certified pipe fitter, or plumber with 5+ years’ experience
- Preferred: 5+ years of boiler experience and low pressure steam and pressure vessels
