Job Purpose: |
To ensure the building(s), equipment and utilities are maintained in good working order and facility grounds are properly maintained in accordance with facility policies. |
Essential job Duties and Responsibilities: |
Unit Supervision: |
Supervise other staff in the day-to-day facility operations of assigned areas. Make job assignments and set priorities. Orientate new staff and participate in recruitment and selection. Communicate policies, assist and coach as needed. Monitor work assignments, provide feedback, evaluate performance, and discipline as needed. Maintain records, manage budgets and supplies, and fulfill department head responsibilities. Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly; strict adherence to procedures regarding cleaners, hazardous materials or objects; ensure Standard precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed; and promptly address any hazardous conditions and equipment. Assist others as requested and function as a working supervisor in all areas of responsibility as the department’s budgeted hours and work load require. |
Maintenance Function: |
Perform repairs and supervise the day-to-day repair, improvement and preventive maintenance of the building, equipment, lawn and grounds; arrange for the outside repair, maintenance and construction services according to procedures; and may perform and supervise floor care. |
Equipment: |
Care, storage and safekeeping of facility maintenance equipment. Budget recommendations for new equipment. |
Documentation: |
Record and report information in TELS system, maintain records of required fire drills, ensure fire extinguishers are not expired, if applicable maintain records of inspections of all facility equipment. |

Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical device): |
Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment.. Works in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in handwashing practices and Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated. Is subject to interruptions, noise, and odors daily Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to communicate with residents and employees, ability to understand and follow training, ability to instruct staff in service education, and the ability to remain calm under stress. |
Qualifications: |
Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English at a level necessary to accomplish the job. Must be able to relate positively and favorable to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Related experience preferred.
