About the Job
As a maintenance assistant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks daily that ensure that our shop, office, and warehouse are in working order. You will have the opportunity to advance your knowledge in all aspects of general facilities maintenance including interior finishing, basic plumbing, HVAC, and other various repairs.
Our Team
The facilities and maintenance department at OPD plays a crucial role in ensuring that the Katy location's physical environment is safe and functional for our employees. Our team maintains regular upkeep of the shop, warehouse, and office spaces in addition to responding to any sort of emergency response such as equipment failure, natural disaster, or any other event that could disrupt normal business operations.
What You Will Do
- Perform general maintenance to include use of hand tools and small power tools, such as a Skilsaw, drill, impact driver.
- Maintain indoor lighting, service general household maintenance
- Maintain grounds appearance at all times: pick up trash, operate push mower, weed eater, and pressure washer
- Seasonal outdoor projects such as gutter clean out & window washing
- Repair various fixtures and office equipment such as doors, windows, small appliances, chairs, and cube furniture
- Light household plumbing maintenance (commercial toilets and sinks)
- Paint interior walls and trim as needed
- Help distribute and stock housekeeping supplies throughout the property
- Various projects as assigned, indoors and outdoors
- Tracking preventative maintenance items electronically
- Responsible for prioritizing requests and calls
We expect all maintenance employees to:

- Be on time to the jobsite each day ready for work.

Physical requirements:
- Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time up to 11 hour per day
- Be able to lift 60 lbs.
- Be able to climb a ladder with harness at least 10' off ground.
- Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching and bending on a regular basis.
- Must have good hand eye coordination.
- Use hands to handle, control and feel objects and/or tools.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance
- Must be willing and able to work overtime up to 50 hours per week including Saturdays
- Must be willing and able to work outside in extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations
