QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a dedication to serving the elderly population.
- Maintenance experience or related skills may be accepted in lieu of high school graduation, at discretion of Director of environmental services.
- Previous long term care or healthcare setting professional experience preferred
JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Assistant will support the Maintenance Director in ensuring that the facility and equipment are maintained in excellent condition. This role is vital in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our residents and staff in accordance to nursing home, state, and federal requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform the periodic maintenance checks that are part of the preventative maintenance program.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.
- Assist in the repair and upkeep of the facility’s interior and exterior.
- Support in setting up and breaking down equipment for events and activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Work requires stooping, bending, stretching, kneeling, climbing, overhead reaching, and getting into spaces with difficult or awkward access.
- Requires lifting up to at least 60lbs alone and assisting to lift objects weighing in excess of 100lbs.
- Work subjected to possibility of burns, cuts, bruises, and falls.
- Work with tools, equipment, and hazardous materials requiring constant awareness of danger of injury to self or to residents, and follow through improper or careless use of tools, equipment, or materials, or failure to use protective equipment or clothing.
