Maintenance Assistant/Transportation Driver Assistant
Provide assistance to the Maintenance Director with preventative maintenance items as assigned such as taking water temperatures, touch up painting and completing work orders for minor repairs as assigned. Job duties will also include providing transportation for Residents on medical appointments as needed
Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities
· Coordinate daily maintenance services with Maintenance Director when performing maintenance assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
· Assure that work schedules are followed as closely as practical.
· Perform administrative requirements (i.e., completing necessary forms, reports, etc.)
· Submit accident/incident reports to the Maintenance Director on the shift in which they occurred.
· Assure resident safety.
· Present a positive image of the facility to all customers, such as job applicants, families, and the community.
· Participate and assist in department studies and projects as directed.
Transportation Driver Assistant Responsibilities
· Communicates with Resident and/or family member of scheduled appointment times.
· Safely transports residents to and from follow up appointments in community.
· Maintains cleanliness of facility van.
· Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
Education
· High School Diploma
· Must have some knowledge of HVAC repair, carpentry, electrical theory, plumbing, low voltage alarm systems and painting experience.
Physical Demands
· Works throughout the facility (i.e., power rooms, resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary, etc.)
· Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
· Is subject to frequent interruptions.
· Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
· Is subject to odors, dust, disinfectants, etc. throughout the work day.
· May be required to work on weekend and holidays.
· May be required to work in cramped spaces and in adverse weather conditions.
· May be required to lift, push, pull, and move office equipment, supplies, etc.
· May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents.
· Primarily sedentary in nature with lifting up to fifty pounds; reaching, handling, fingering, near-visual acuity, talking and hearing.
· Must be able to assist with transporting Residents in wheelchairs in and out of Facility van as well as in and out of Physician Offices/Clinics.

· Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
· Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and tactfully with residents, personnel, visitors, general public and outside agencies.
· Works in a safety-conscious manner, which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Reports any safety violations or hazards to supervisor.
· Complies with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations. Adheres to policy on Drug-Free Workplace.
· Interacts in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with patients, families, visitors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective caring environment which ensures the self-respect, personal dignity, rights and physical safety of each patient and facility guest.
· Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.

· Must have valid Michigan drivers license in good standings.
Experience
· Skilled Nursing Facility experience preferred
Working Conditions
· Inside in well-lighted, well-ventilated areas. Outside in all seasonal weather conditions.
