While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, ensures all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; maintains required safety, security and operational training; assures procedural and regulatory compliance; and makes safety, security and quality an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
EssentialDuties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- Evaluates existing procedures and job sequencing to verify that resulting work will ensure safety and economy consistent with government and company requirements.
- Provides technical assistance in analyzing and solving problems encountered in daily mechanical and inspection work.
- Develops and recommends written procedures and work documents to simplify and improve the quality of mechanical and inspection work and work records.
- Assists in developing new techniques and methods for routine, non-routine, and project work.
- Participates in the testing of tools and materials to determine if they meet specifications and shop requirements.
- Works with maintenance training personnel in the development of training programs.
- May conduct specialized technical training
- Broad understanding of principles, concepts and techniques in the field of maintenance, and in preparation of work packages for facility operations.
- Experience with Lockout/Tagout requirements, Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) implementation, and OSHA requirements for safe work performance.
- Ability to adapt procedures, tools and/or equipment to meet special needs.
- Ability to perform duties and tasks that are varied and complex.
- Ability to serve as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues.
- Ability to assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees.
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required.
- Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently, and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems.
- Ability to recommend approaches for new or improved processes.
- Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to lead certain aspects of a task or project.
- Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
- Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors' degree in appropriate discipline; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; after a candidate has been chosen.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
