Maintenance Electrician; Ethanol Refinery, Southeast Nebraska
License Requirement: Candidates must possess a valid Nebraska Journeyman or Contractor's License.
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Electrician (Electrical & Instrumentation Technician) will report directly to the Maintenance Engineer and be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing plant equipment and systems to optimize plant performance. This role focuses heavily on electrical systems and instrumentation. The technician will support company policies, goals, and objectives, and represent the company professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and promote safety, health, environmental, and quality policies.
- Perform troubleshooting, installation, routine maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment.
- Utilize the company’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to reduce downtime, maximize plant efficiency, and preserve assets.
- Log parts used for work orders in the CMMS.
- Conduct complex troubleshooting and repairs on electrical components, instrumentation, PLC-controlled systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Handle PLC and Distributed Control System (DCS) hardware and programming.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and P&ID schematics.
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with scheduled tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and efficiency of facilities and grounds.
- Participate in plant projects as needed.
- Be available for work outside normal hours when necessary.
- Follow local, state, and federal maintenance regulations.
- Complete tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Engineer.
- Promote a collaborative and problem-solving team environment.
- Ensure confidentiality of all company records and information.
Qualifications:
- Must hold an active electrician certification in Nebraska.
- Technical degree or certification in electrical/instrumentation-related fields.
- 5+ years of electrical/instrumentation experience, preferably in an industrial setting such as the ethanol industry.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- High school diploma or GED.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions.
- Comfortable with heights, including ascending/descending stairs and ladders up to 200 feet.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and handle exposure to dust, chemicals, and other substances.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
- Ability to communicate effectively via a 2-way radio system.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations 24/7 during assigned stand-by periods and work outside scheduled hours when necessary.
Salary: $49.96 per hour ($104K) +OT; benefits, relocation assist, EOE, NO Sponsorship
