About the Job
The Tidewater Inn is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team! Under limited supervision, performs work of routine difficulty maintenance as assigned by Director of Facilities, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical and plumbing tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms and contents, kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating/air conditioning ventilation and water treatment systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance as outlined in Preventative Maintenance Program.
- Follow procedures that ensure the security of inventory.
- Report emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.
- Report any hazardous situations, malfunctioning to external signs or unlit areas.
- Install, adjust, modify and repair building systems and assess the conditions of all effective operations.
- Test safety systems, e.g. emergency lighting and record keeping and assist with periodic inspections of all safety systems.
- Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Replace TVs and cable boxes.
- Program movie channel boxes.
- Replace light switches, receptacles and light bulbs.
- Perform plumbing repairs – open clogged drains, change FET washers, stem seats, cartridges, handles, drain fittings, etc.
- Trace and repair drain and water lines.
- Maintain preventative maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Repair kitchen equipment.
- Ensuring that the rooms and property are maintained in the best possible condition, with the least inconvenience to guests.
- Perform basic furniture repairs and hang pictures.
- Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings.
- Report emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.
- Report any hazardous situations, malfunctioning to external signs or unlit areas.
- Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Follow-up on all alarms immediately to determine the exact location and cause. Determine emergency status and repair projects.
- Perform inspections on a regular basis of working orders and checks, adjusts, repairs and monitor the building system.
- Comply, at all times, with TWI standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, weather conditions, and moving mechanical parts.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Position Type/Work Schedule Expectation:
This is a full-time position to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
