- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- Performs maintenance, diagnosis and repair of equipment, physical systems and structures within assigned facilities.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- Plant engineering oversees maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors through the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of building and grounds infrastructure and equipment.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience and/or training equivalent to journeyman standing in appropriate trade required.
- Three (3) years experience in the electrical/mechanical field of healthcare or industrial engineering required.
- Successful completion of Drivers Privileges for SHS Vehicles application process required.
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with federal, state, local rules and standards. Ability to safely and effectively use electrical and mechanical shop tools and test equipment.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques used in electrical, mechanical and building maintenance. Ability to use a wide variety of test equipment and hand / power tools including cable testing equipment.
- Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following trades: mechanical, welding, pneumatics, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing or steam fitting.
- Ability to read and understand blue prints and facility schematics and utilize computer interfacing concepts including communications and components.
- Knowledge and ability to trouble shoot and repair various physical plant systems and equipment. Ability to work with outside contractor to coordinate systems shutdowns and equipment repairs or services.
- Ability to perform staff in-services education on various systems and equipment related to the physical plant.
