Maintenance/Engineering Manager - Cornerstone Building Brands

About the Job
This role leads the multifaceted plant level manufacturing engineering and maintenance team supporting numerous vinyl window production lines as well as two glass lines. This role will create a vision and strategy aligned with the goals of the business unit (Apertures), champions annual capital, automation, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and process improvement deployment across the plant.
Responsible for capital budgeting process and spend adherence to budget. Key measures of success include: Strategic Annual Plan completion, financial and Key Performance Indicator Goal Achievement, Annualized cost take out, Capital spend vs. Budget, First Pass Yield-Process Derived, Cost of Poor Quality, OTIF, Labor Productivity, PM, Planned vs. Reactive Maintenance, Unplanned Downtime, and TPM System Audit Scores.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with Plant Leadership team to develop a forward-looking vision, associate strategies and roadmaps for each of the primary areas of responsibility aligned with long-term objectives
- Responsible for manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, automation engineering, and plant/equipment maintenance (TPM)
- Prepare work schedules, assign work, and oversees the work product
- Identify and implement new technologies that lead to a competitive operations advantage; improve safety, driving cost take out, capacity and utilization up time, improving quality and ensuring high levels of on time in full delivery
- Ensures that SOPs are developed to guide manufacturing teams in the proper use of new technology collaborating with EHS and Quality to provide reaction plans for addressing out-of-standard conditions
- Manage the work order system designed to establish priority and control over maintenance requests from plant personnel. Ensures that work order requests are completed in a timely fashion
- Maintains relationships with equipment and automation vendors. Ensures SOWs, service agreements and technical training agreements are adhered to by vendors
- Adjusts maintenance programs to insure conformance with insurance policy requirements
- Deploy TPM methodology across the plant resulting in demonstration of improved operational efficiencies through effective Predictive, Preventative, and reactive maintenance process
- Lead and participate in Capital Investment FAT, SAT, PPSR, and Launch Management to ensure investments achieve desired outcomes. Ensure countermeasures are developed from lessons learned during launch process
- Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices
- Manage spare parts inventory
- Communicate daily with the Plant Manager and internal personnel from Production and Quality Control to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals
- Responsible for engineering, design and modification/installation of existing and/or new (capital) equipment
- Compiles and maintains drawing and records on plant facility
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
- Leads by example and imposes all safety and operational procedures; promote and ensure a safe working environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards by coaching and guiding associates on safety procedures and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures
- Train and supervise junior maintenance staff and technicians
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure machinery and equipment function correctly
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly
- Analyze equipment performance data and suggest improvements
- Work to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance
- All other duties, as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial) or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience managing a Maintenance department in a manufacturing environment
- 10+ years of maintenance experience
- Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CMMS
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience
- Solid knowledge of schematics and blueprints
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and people management skills with demonstrated track record of team member development
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with EHS, Quality, and Continuous Improvement Management Systems and Processes
