About the Job
We are looking for a Maintenance Manager for a growing team at our manufacturing and distribution company in Riverview, Florida. We provide building materials for the residential building market statewide with millwork locations in Sanford, Jacksonville, Ocala, Melbourne, Clermont, Winter Haven, Tampa, and Fort Myers.
The Maintenance Manager position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and preventive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the millwork division’s business goals and objectives.
Direct and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of production equipment and facilities maintenance by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.
Essential Functions
- Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
- Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Coordinates activities and training of maintenance personnel
- Directs maintenance activities to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
- Displays knowledge of plant operational systems including electrical, air and piping, PLC's, and support equipment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. This will be across all facilities with associated travel as needed.
- Develops and conducts a Preventive Maintenance program in conjunction with production scheduling and maintenance staff.
- Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with Operations.
- Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
- Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Confer with management and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
- Completes projects on time and budget

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises hourly employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out management/supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a mechanical engineering or related field and three to five years related experience and/or training in a management position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and be proficient in the use of Internet software; Maintenance Software (MaintenanceX), Spreadsheet software (Excel), Word Processing software (Word) and Email Software (Office 365).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
