We are seeking a hands-on and skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance and repair operations at Making Waves Academy's 8-building modern school campus. This fully in-person role emphasizes troubleshooting, performing repairs, and collaborating with vendors to ensure high-quality work. The Maintenance Manager will report to the Sr. Manager of Operations and work closely with, and be mentored by, the Sr. Manager of School Facilities. The role also involves developing and updating standard operating procedures for efficient maintenance practices.

Salary & Benefits
- Pay: Competitive hourly pay range of $37.25-$50.52 (equivalent to $77,682-$105,099 annually), based on experience and performance in the interview process. We provide our best offer upfront and do not negotiate salaries.

Core Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform and oversee daily maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems, ensuring campus functionality and safety.
- Daily Inspections & Troubleshooting: Conduct campus walkthroughs to identify issues, provide hands-on troubleshooting, and coordinate vendor support for complex repairs.
- Vendor Support: Assist vendors by providing access to work sites and overseeing their work to ensure it meets quality and safety standards. Collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Operations, who manages vendor contracts.
- SOP Development: Create and update Standard Operating Procedures for consistent and high-quality maintenance, and train staff on implementation.
- Work Order Management: Use the work order system (e.g., SolarWinds) to track, document, and prioritize maintenance tasks.
- Preventive Maintenance & Safety: Implement preventive maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Be ready to respond to emergencies to minimize disruption.
- Support for Other Properties: While primarily focused on Making Waves Academy, assist with maintenance tasks at other properties in Contra Costa County as needed.
Schedule
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a lunch break. Flexibility for after-hours or weekend work as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, and moving between indoor and outdoor environments.
- Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle tools and materials for repairs.
- Climbing: Comfortable working on ladders and at heights.
- Manual Dexterity: Proficient in using tools and operating maintenance equipment.
- Bending & Stooping: Regularly required for accessing and repairing systems.
- Weather Conditions: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in hands-on maintenance management, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairs.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance. HVAC knowledge is a plus.
- Vendor Oversight: Experience ensuring vendor work meets quality and safety standards.
- SOP Development: Ability to develop and enforce efficient maintenance procedures.
- Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork, especially with the Sr. Manager of School Facilities and Operations team.
- Preferred Qualification: Willingness to learn and become an expert in our Johnson Controls HVAC controls system to enhance oversight and efficiency of HVAC-related maintenance.
Certificates: Preferred certifications include Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Building Operator Certification (BOC), OSHA 30-Hour, EPA 608, or similar credentials related to maintenance and safety.
