About the Job
- Respond to work orders and perform general mechanical tasks, including electrical, plumbing, heating, appliance repairs, groundskeeping and snow and ice removals.
- Execute preventive maintenance and routine engineering checks in mechanical and boiler rooms
- Prepare vacant apartments for new residents
- Perform unit inspections in tandem with Resident Service Teams to ensure building/unit integrity, safety, and compliance
- Maintain an inventory management system for all equipment and tools
- Responsible for pest control inspection and follow-up treatment
- Must be available to respond when assigned to evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage
- Report any accident, injury, or safety concerns to the Director of Facilities/Executive Director (ED) and complete incident reports immediately
- May rotate as building mechanic to other 2Life buildings
- Must have at least five years of hands-on experience; Post-secondary technical training preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, elevators and high rise building systems preferred
- Hoisting License preferred
- High comfort level with older adults ranging in age from approximately 62 to 102 years of age
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
- Must be able to operate hand and power tools safely
- Ability to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, etc. Must have full use of arms, hands, and finger dexterity to reach, lift, pull, push, and feel.
