We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Permanent Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic Engineering team. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and equipment, contributing to the overall success of our operations. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and is committed to quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
The Permanent Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for a wide range of duties including, but not limited to:
1. Inspecting machinery and equipment to identify any defects or potential issues that could impact productivity or safety.
2. Performing routine preventative maintenance tasks to keep machinery and equipment running at peak performance.
3. Troubleshooting and repairing any mechanical issues that arise, with a focus on minimizing downtime.
4. Collaborating with other members of the Engineering team to develop and implement maintenance strategies that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
5. Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance work performed, including any parts or materials used.
6. Ensuring all work is performed in line with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant safety standards and regulations.
7. Assisting in the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.
8. Providing training and guidance to junior team members on maintenance best practices.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate for the Permanent Maintenance Mechanic role will have:
1. A minimum of 5 years' experience in a maintenance role, preferably within the Engineering industry.
2. A strong understanding of mechanical systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
3. Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment.
4. A track record of adhering to safety standards and procedures.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and make effective decisions under pressure.
6. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
7. A high level of physical fitness, with the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in a variety of conditions.
8. A relevant trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade) would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
