Position Summary
The Reliability Engineer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and SHE teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations, ensuring compliance with both legal and internal standards. This role includes responsibility for mechanical and civil engineering activities, focusing on asset reliability and engineering standards across the site. This position will also serve as the appointed Asset Engineer, fulfilling responsibilities defined by internal SHE & Engineering Requirements.
Responsibilities
• Engineering Standard Maintenance
o Maintain and enforce mechanical and civil standards to comply with statutory and internal standards.
o Ensure a thorough understanding and application of relevant legal requirements, codes, and engineering processes.
o Maintain records for coded vessels and related documentation.
o Provide technical guidance for repair designs to meet both local and national standards.
o Serve as the primary contact for regulatory bodies concerning equipment design and code compliance.
• Reliability and Mechanical Integrity Program Management
o Develop, implement, and manage programs to ensure assets and protective systems are well-maintained.
o Maintain a list of critical assets and ensure that inspection regimens are defined and effective.
o Analyze inspection outcomes to promote continuous improvement in asset maintenance.
• Asset Performance and Maintenance
o Establish asset maintenance programs and procedures aimed at improving asset condition and performance.
o Lead preventative and predictive maintenance initiatives to enhance reliability and mechanical integrity.
o Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot breakdown issues, develop equipment-specific policies, and recommend design modifications for increased reliability.
o Conduct an annual review of asset conditions to support the long-term asset life plan.
Requirements
• Education & Experience
o Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
o At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within chemical manufacturing.
o Minimum 7 years of experience in a reliability-focused role.
• Technical Skills
o Proficiency in mechanical integrity standards, with the ability to apply global standards to enhance SHE and reliability performance.
o Strong knowledge of factors that contribute to equipment, piping, and tank damage, including selecting inspection methods, identifying failure causes, and implementing preventive measures.
o Familiarity with internal and external inspection methods, enabling accurate prediction of corrosion and erosion-prone areas and suggesting effective remedial actions.
o Understanding of process safety management.
o Skilled in handling rotating equipment, including centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, vacuum pumps, gearboxes, seals, fans, blowers, and vibration analysis.
