JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, you are responsible for complex repairs and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, and plumbing systems for the Hospital in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, department policies, along with applicable codes and regulations. Provides maintenance necessary to create a pleasant, comfortable, and safe environment for patients, staff, and the public. When carrying out duties, adhere to the safety precautions outlined in the hospital's safety program.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
ELECTRICAL
Maintains, repairs, and installs electrical systems and equipment. Installs electrical circuits of various voltages and phases in accordance with the National Electric Code and all other required codes and standards. Demonstrates knowledge of the electrical distribution system by repairing/replacing fixtures, switches, ballasts, bulbs, and other electrical components. Performs preventative maintenance on electrical circuits and equipment. Must be able to read and interpret electrical blueprints.
HVAC
The ability to inspect, maintain, repair, and install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment throughout the Health System.
MECHANICAL
Maintains, monitors, and performs minor repairs to facility mechanical systems, including but not limited to boilers, chillers, refrigeration systems, emergency generators, nurse call systems, fire alarm systems and the pneumatic tube system. The ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints is required.
PLUMBING
Demonstrates knowledge of facility plumbing systems, including distribution and valves, by fitting pipe, repairing/replacing fixtures and opening blocked drains.
Performs Other Duties as Assigned:
Attend mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and actively participate in self-education. Completes all required competency assessments on time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school education or equivalent is preferred. Appropriate trade, technical, or vocational training is preferred but not required.
Experience: 1 to 3 years’ experience in health care or similar maintenance is required. 5 years preferred.
Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
Licensure/Certification: Driver's License preferred.
At least one of the following trades is required for the position:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
