As a Maintenance Superintendent, you will play a crucial role on our Plant Management Team, tasked with developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive maintenance programs to ensure peak equipment reliability and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the Maintenance Department, championing workplace safety, driving project planning, and leading our maintenance initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive sawmill maintenance experience, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to build and optimize our maintenance systems and preventative programs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the highest level of workplace safety and prioritizing the well-being of our team members above all else.
- Providing direction, training, and unwavering support to our maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve targets in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement.
- Implementing and optimizing the Canfor Operating System (COS), with a focus on proactive abnormality response.
- Facilitating seamless communication and coordination with Production departments to maximize equipment availability and efficiency.
- Contributing to the development and management of annual budgets and cost control programs to drive sustainable growth.
- Ensuring full compliance with environmental permits, government regulations, and corporate policies.
- Providing mentorship and professional development opportunities for supervisory personnel.
- Working alongside senior management to strategize equipment and technological enhancements.
- Developing, implementing, and refining effective preventative maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and longevity.
For this role, you’ll come equipped with:
- A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in industrial sawmilling maintenance, including significant supervisory experience.
- Trade certification as a Millwright or Electrician, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Proven expertise in safety management, leadership, and team development.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a talent for fostering cohesive, high-performing teams.
- A deep understanding of optimization equipment, processes, and business acumen.
- Extensive experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and preventative maintenance program development.
- Ideally, experience in vibration analysis and predictive maintenance, with a focus on failure analysis and lubrication.
- Experience with thermography would also be considered an asset.
