Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Shift:
- 1st Shift (6 am-4:30 pm) 50hr M-F Workweek and rotating Saturdays Pay Rate: $86K-$129K
- 2nd Shift (4:30pm - 3:30pm) Pay Rate: $86K - $110k
Location: Elgin, IL
Summary of the Position:The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance personnel and operations to ensure that production equipment operates efficiently with minimal downtime. This role is key in hiring, training, and managing the maintenance team, while also focusing on preventative maintenance and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- 35%: Hire, train, evaluate, and manage a team of supervisors, mechanics, millwrights, technicians, and machine builders.
- 25%: Develop and manage preventative maintenance and repair schedules, including inventory management, to improve maintenance programs.
- 20%: Manage purchasing of equipment and parts, and contract services. Coordinate with the purchasing department for negotiations and contracts.
- 10%: Collaborate with sanitation, production, and quality control departments to address scheduling and immediate maintenance needs.
- 5%: Work closely with the engineering department, assisting with new equipment design, planning, and installation.
- 5%: Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Ongoing Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and high-quality food production by following good manufacturing practices (GMPs), allergen controls, and regulatory requirements (HACCP/FSMA, SQF).
- Document and maintain preventative controls for food safety and quality.
- Immediately report all food safety and quality concerns to management.
- Promote knowledge-sharing and collaboration across teams and departments.
- Foster a culture of safety by adhering to policies and conducting safety observations.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in maintenance management within the food industry, with supervisory experience.
- General knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, machine building, PLCs, and local codes.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical education in electronics and PLCs preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
