Five years of supervisory experience in a maintenance setting; strong knowledge of building trades and preventative maintenance planning; experience in a university setting is preferred; must have strong skills in supervision and possess great customer service. Must be able to communicate with all levels in an organization and understand organizational goals. Good working knowledge of basic office software, with design software preferred. Great time management skills and eye for detail.

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Maintenance supervisor must have working knowledge of at least one specific trade and/or operations and maintenance principles; must have knowledge of preventative maintenance methods; must have knowledge of fire safety, life safety, electrical codes and OSHA standards; must have knowledge of electrical, heating, and cooling systems; must be able to plan and estimate building and maintenance costs; must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with supervisors, coworkers, University community and the public.

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Normal office environment; requires extensive safety training; exposure to chemicals; high noise environment; dust dirt, grease or other disagreeable elements; requires protective devices; typically sitting at desk or table, standing or walking, running or climbing, bending crouching or stooping; repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement; frequently lifting 25 lbs or more; occasionally lifting 25 50 lbs; requires use of normal office equipment, simple hand tools and electrical and other diagnostic equipment.
