About the Job
Under the direction of the General Manager / Director of Operations, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance within the assigned facility or facilities.
Responsibilities:- Ensures the safe, clean and efficient work environment which includes, but not limited to, Shop areas, operational areas and grounds.
- Assists in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness.
- Ability to hire qualified employees to meet the facility’s needs.
- Conduct analysis of workload as compared to maintenance manpower and equipment; matches the skill and background of personnel to work required.
- Establishes the maintenance workforce schedule according to business needs.
- Supervises and audits the work of employees who repair and maintain buildings/facilities.
- Partner with Operations to develop efficient preventative maintenance schedule.
- May be involved in new construction or modification of existing properties.
- Conducts regular meetings with employees to review important messages and safety issues.
- Coordinate all alarm-monitoring systems and review sprinkler system testing.
- Execute safety and sanitation schedules that ensure the facility’s compliance with Corporate, OSHA, FDA, AIB or ASI standards.
- Conduct warehouse inspections in absence of/or with General Managers.
- Act as point of contact for all fire, safety and sanitation inspections.
- Develop local vendor contacts to supply facility.
- May help assist in ensuring that all licensing and permits are in place as required by state and local law.
- May assist in the annual review of vendor contracts, determining and recommending price / service changes to Operations.
- Involved with budget review process and responsible for expense tracking.
- Develop and implement an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and termination.
- Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers and service providers. Ensure that all personnel do the same
- Performs other duties as requested by facility leadership.
- May be required to meet certain certifications in field.
- Requires at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Computer applications using MS office and Excel.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary.
- Excellent supervisory skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required (in some locations).
- Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and potentially holidays as needed by the customer
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
- Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walking in the warehouse and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
- Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations.
