Pactiv Evergreen Bedford Park is a leading Extrusion/Injection Molding facility that produces lids, plates, straws, cutlery, and wrapped cutlery kits for the food service industry. Built in 1974, our facility has 195,000 total square footage. We host 90 machines including Injection Molding, Extrusion, and Automated Robotic instruments. We produce approximately 75 million pounds annually and over 400,000 SKUs. We employ over 500 full-time and temporary employees who have helped us attain numerous awards including Quality Performer of the year and Safety Excellence.
The Maintenance Supervisor
leads the hourly maintenance employees to meet the safety, environmental, production, quality and cost to support plastic extrusion and thermoforming production equipment. This position is responsible for safety,
labor relations, quality, production, performance measurement of production, cost improvement, and local financial budget responsibility.
Essential Functions:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
Maintain strict adherence to company and safety policies/procedures, by ensuring a safe work environment for employees, and through leadership, instill an employee involved safety approach.
Responsible for keeping all the process and building equipment in operating condition to minimize downtime and ensure efficient production
Supervise, direct, and coordinate the mechanical maintenance employees engaged in maintenance activities in the department.
Responsible for training and development of maintenance personnel to determine competency, knowledge, and the contributions of each direct report.
Responsible for resolving employee issues through conflict resolution.
Coordinate with Production in preparing maintenance outages, daily work schedules and preventative maintenance activities. Ensure proper manning to execute all tasks.
Coordinate outside contractors and consultants as needed to ensure reliability is maintained, and to address manpower deficiencies.
Drive continuous improvement through reliability efforts and root cause failure analysis.
Coordinate maintenance spending with operations and maintenance manager to adhere to budget. Assist in the development of yearly maintenance plan.
Manage timekeeping, vacation scheduling, and other activities as they arise.
Develop operating, process, and reliability improvements through innovation.
Manage and coordinate project work involving external contractors.
Qualifications:
Supervisory and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Preferred experience with maintenance of thermoforming equpiment.
Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment such as motors and drives.
Prior experience with critical support equipment to include: trim compressors, dessicant material dryers, and chilled water treatment systems.
Willing and able to work 6:30am-4pm Monday-Friday
Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
Knowledge of form and trim tooling applications as associated with manufacturing and production.
Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of product.
Strong understanding of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
Preferred software knowledge in SAP and Maintenance Connection.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
