JOB TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary:
To a high level of maintenance expertise that ensures company objectives are supported, maintenance goals are efficiently and effectively met, departmental downtime goals and preventative maintenance schedules are achieved. To carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety, food safety and Regulatory standards and guidelines. Responsible for Safety and well being of all subordinates on his shift.
Position Responsibilities:
Oversees daily operations of Maintenance Department:
- Leads the department and team members in maintaining and improving productivity and efficiencies, quality of work and ensuring work completion meets company standards. Fosters a Proactive maintenance approach to prevent unplanned failures of machines.
- Manages and monitors the attendance of, daily shift hours, ensures that mechanics are taking lunch before the fifth hour and overtime of shift.
- Responsible for completing a work schedule in cooperation with the planner and Maintenance Manager, plant and operations managers.
- Performs all repairs and follows the preventative maintenance schedule thoroughly and while in compliance with HACCP, SOP’s, BRC, GMP’s and Federal & State requirements.
- All work performed and completed may require skills such as electrical, refrigeration, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum, plumbing, fabricating and other areas as needed.
- Responsible for trouble shooting of machinery to minimize down time; acts upon an intense sense of urgency to on-floor calls and emergencies. Recommends solutions to prevent reoccurring downtime events that impacts production.
- Operate the following machinery/equipment in compliance with GMP’S, SOP’s
- Hand tools
- Power tools
- Welding/cutting equipment
- Air tools
- Material handling equipment like Power Jacks/Fork Lifts/ Pallet Jacks/ hoists.
- All plant or departmental machinery and equipment as required.
- Ensures that all required documentation is completed correctly and on time. This may include daily time sheets, pre-operation forms, Preventative Maintenance Logs, temperature recording and equipment monitoring, work orders etc.
- Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining a tidy, clean and safe work area on the production floor and in the maintenance area. Making sure that all work performed is cleaned up and acceptable for a safe food production environment.
- Acts as a liaison for contractors conducting repairs in the facility.
- Must practice good communication skills with Team Members, Production and Management
- Responsible for compliance to Health and Safety Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety and Environmental standards at all times.
- Attends all meetings as required
- Performs other duties as required or directed.
- Follow ESQM for maintenance Department.
- Protect the assets of the company.
Preferred Qualifications and Expectations
- High School Graduate or GED
- Post secondary education and training
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must be willing to work scheduled (day/afternoon/ night) shifts and weekends
- Must be prepared to work extra overtime hours when required
- Must have excellent work and attendance record.
