Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees and maintains all warehouse equipment and repairs across our Syracuse facilities, ensuring that all systems function properly. This includes hands-on work with electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other maintenance tasks. This role requires reliable transportation to move between multiple buildings as needed. Experience with maintaining warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jack equipment is essential, with a focus on ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire and train maintenance department staff.
- Organize and oversee the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Communicate with stakeholders across the business to organize and prioritize maintenance requests.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
- Evaluate systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
- Assess building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
- Develop maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Assist with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
- Experience maintaining warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks; food processing equipment experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in maintenance and repairs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
- Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Reliable transportation to move between buildings.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least five years of maintenance experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
- Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
