About the Job
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
- Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
- Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
- Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
- Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
- Record parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours at anytime.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for up to 10 hours at anytime.
- Must be able to routinely and frequently lift up to 50lbs without assistance.
- Must be able to climb to various levels and platforms to include ladders.
- Must be able to wear all OSHA required PPE.
Work Environment:
- Plant production area: including inside and outside is not climate controlled.
- Uneven working surfaces. Hot and noisy environment.
- Exposed to dust, rotating and spinning equipment, hot surfaces, moving lift equipment, and fiber particulates.
- Noise: Hearing protection is required at all times in the plant area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Desired):
- Detailed oriented and self-directed.
- Ability to work as an effective team member including accepting supervision and assistance from other team members.
- Able to read and interpret customer orders and plant production control documents.
- Basic understanding of operating a computer and basic Excel spreadsheet data entry.
- Able to compute basic math to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Able to compute measurement in both English and Metric system.
