Position Summary:Under general direction, responsible for monitoring, repairing and maintaining the various types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and other mechanical equipment.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $20.

About the Venue:The VSU Multi-Purpose Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue located on the campus of Virginia State University, in South Chesterfield, VA. The arena is able to seat more than 6,000 guests, making it the largest events venue located south of Richmond in the state of Virginia. The amenities-packed arena serves as a full entertainment facility hosting athletic events, commencements, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, and more. Formally opening its doors to the public in March of 2016, the VSU Multi-Purpose Center is home to the Virginia State University Trojans Basketball and Volleyball teams. The MPC is managed by OVG360, which is a full-service venue management and hospitality company that helps client-partners reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and surrounding communities.
Responsibilities:- Operate and repair the facility’s HVAC system to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the facility
- Monitor operation of the facility HVAC systems noting current status, identifying potential problems and taking corrective action where appropriate
- Change air filters, and belts,
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance and other standard operating procedures
- Perform preventative maintenance repairs, alterations and routine operations to facility systems
- Must maintain daily maintenance log and be able to report all findings to D.O.O
- Respond to visual and audible alarms from building automation and life safety systems
- Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, fork lifts, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment
- Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts and supplies, prepare requisition forms for purchases and pick up supplies and materials from vendors
- Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekend, and holidays
- When not working on mechanical equipment assist the Operations department with various setups per events
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) and two - four (2-4) years in commercial related field
- Must have all necessary licenses and certificates
- Possess knowledge in methods, principles and practices required for the operation, repair and maintenance of the HVAC system
- Know and understand how to maintain and troubleshoot cooling towers
- Be able to maintain boilers and know how to trouble shoot them
- Know and understand Air Handler controls in conjunction with the Building Automated Systems
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility
- Properly use all tools, equipment and methodology for operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with other in oral and written form
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment
- Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related material
- Follow and adhere to all safety precautions, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures
- Possess any licenses, certificates and/or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operation system
- Work independently and exercise proper judgment in handling incidents and routine matters
- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur
