Job Overview:
The Maintenance Technician II- Journeyman Electrician performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, Electrical, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. Journeyman electricians are responsible for installing and repairing electrical systems within the property. They test, troubleshoot, and replace electrical components to ensure systems function safely and efficiently. This is a Journeyman level position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
- Perform inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality
- Adhere to all applicable requirements, including safety standards and local codes
- Discusses Electrical system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected
- Adjusts system controls to setting recommended by manufacturer to balance system, using hand tools, read blueprints, use diagnostic tools, and make decisions under pressure.
- Installing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems, providing assistance during emergencies
- Recommends, develops, and performs preventive and general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing and vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, and changing filters
- Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
- Obtaining required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects
- Layouts and connects electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagram, using electrician's hand tools
- Records respond and report all faults, deficiencies in Hotsos, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders
- Installs auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues and stokers, following blueprints
- Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed
- May operates a computer which controls and monitors mechanical and electrical equipment and utility systems
- Repairs electrical equipment and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical switches; repairs refrigeration equipment
- May repairs electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security
- Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene, and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort
- May obtains estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed
- Assists with other work in coordination with repair and maintenance teams
- Installs, connects, and adjusts thermostats, humidistats and timers, using hand tools
- Generates work orders that address deficiencies in need of correction
- Assembles, positions, and mounts heating or cooling equipment, following blueprints
- Studies blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturer’s recommendations to ascertain the configuration of electrical system of property equipment, and to ensure the proper installation of components
- Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe or tubing, using pipefitter's tools
- Use ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems inside and outside the building
- Fabricates, assembles, and installs duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment
- Cuts and drills holes in floors, walls, and roof to install equipment, using power saws and drills
- Wraps pipes in insulation, securing it in place with cement or wire bands
- Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe or tubing, using pipefitter's tools
- Fabricates, assembles and installs duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)
- High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six months from start date as a condition of continued employment
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
- Must have and maintain a valid state-issued operator driver’s license
- Completed electrician apprenticeship
- Minimum four years of experience in the construction industry
- Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes
- Must have completed at least two (2) maintenance certificates such as City/County certified Journeymen electrician required refrigeration license type II, controls, NFPA96, Level I Locksmith Certification
- Must have good hearing and eyesight
- Must have ability to read, write, and understand English
- Must have a valid and current State Driver’s License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
- Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays
- Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
- Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
