Position Title: Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift
Wage: $30.00 per hour
Shift: 3rd
QPS Employment Group has a great Maintenance Technician position available at a company in Racine, WI. This is a 3rd shift, direct hire position.
Maintenance Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.
- Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
- Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
- Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.
- Perform skilled operations such as filing and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts; adjust feed and limit mechanisms, gibs, and ways.
- Perform various activities related to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting and aligning operations.
- Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
- Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
- Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units.
- Maintain required maintenance logs and files in preferred program.
- Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements.
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues causing a major deficit to production/operations, and repair or troubleshoot the problem until production can resume according. This includes on call requirements, as this position is responsible for being on call as a part of an on call rotation and schedule dictated by Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintain and utilize 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot or provide routine preventative maintenance appropriate for corresponding equipment and procedures at the direction or approval of the Plant Maintenance supervisor.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines as it refers to proper technique and quality.
- Cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required by this position and follows GMPs.
- Work together well with a variety of personalities and individuals and participate in a professional manner to accomplish the business goal (quality bakery, great customer service).
- Other duties as assigned.
Maintenance Technician Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years experience in maintenance, mechanical repair including blueprint reading and interpretation plus up to three years extensive experience in a variety of maintenance trades desired.
- Ability to read and speak English.
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to obtain information, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Collaborative approach to teamwork and excellent communication as they will coordinate with multiple departments and team members.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Able to operate various tools and equipment to include various hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, plumbing equipment, and various measuring equipment.
- Comfortable standing, lifting and bending for the duration of an entire shift.
- Comfortable with repetitive motion.
- Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work areas.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
