POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs skilled repair, installation, and preventative maintenance on all high and low voltage electrical equipment inside and outside of all district buildings. Knowledge in processing paperwork electronically utilizing Word, Excel, Outlook,and Google. This position reports to the Electrical Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all electrical repairs and installations using standard electrical codes and appropriate safety procedures; accurately diagnoses all electrical malfunctions.
Performs preventative maintenance as required on various equipment and fixtures inside and outside of all district buildings.
Assumes responsibility for all parts, tools, and vehicles assigned; have ready access to all equipment issued.
Utilizes electric screwdrivers, conduit bender, small drills, small soldering irons, voltage meters, and any other equipment/machinery relevant to repairs and installations.
Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED required; trade specific certificate preferred
Minimum of two (2) years verifiable experience required
Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the district
Valid Georgia driver’s license; CDL preferred; electrical certificate preferred
Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Electrical Supervisor
Requires contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance
Provides training and guidance to apprentices
Familiarity with computer applications preferred
Minimal-major depending on task being performed
Variable work environment – Maintenance Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures
May be on call after normal work hours 24 hours/day, seven days a week and in emergency situations
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one (100) pounds occasionally
Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs
Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position. Applicants are responsible for the initial cost of the physical examination ($150-$200), and only candidates who pass and hired for this position will be reimbursed for the associated fees within 45 days of hire.
NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
