About the Job
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and addressing equipment downtime on production machinery as needed. Working alongside senior staff, this role also assists with electrical and mechanical projects. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or 1 year of experience with a recognized trade certificate.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all company policies and ensure personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Suggest improvements to health and safety measures within the facility.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and adhere to safety policies, including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production and facility equipment.
- Assist with electrical and mechanical projects under the direction of the Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Diagnose basic electrical systems, mechanical components, pneumatic components, and controls, identifying hazards, defects, and necessary repairs.
- Help maintain electrical spare parts inventory.
- Perform repairs on equipment to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
- Follow work orders and use the CMMS system for data entry.
- Be available for rotating shifts, including overnights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of equipment setup, functions, and operating procedures.
- Experience with preventative maintenance techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in reading basic electrical/electronic schematics and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

- Strong mechanical aptitude.
Education and Experience
- At least 2 years of maintenance experience, or 1 year of experience with a trade certificate such as:
- 309A - Electrician (Construction & Maintenance)
- 433A - Industrial Mechanic
Preferred
- Forklift or scissor lift certification or experience.
