JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for making all repairs and maintain all areas of Hotel Facilities to include all public areas, exterior areas of building, guestrooms and guest corridors.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Support Services, Engineering Team leader, and Managers On Duty
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Engineering, Security, Front Desk and Housekeeping employees
External: Suppliers and hotel guests
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:
1)Building maintenance experience includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing, H.V.A.C. (heating ventilation and air conditioning) and furniture refinishing. All members shall have the ability to perform all the technical skills and physical skills required such as heavy lifting, climbing stairs, ladders and fitting into confined spaces. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other employees or guests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
1)High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent and Vocational background in building maintenance.
2)Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written
3)Ability to work cohesively in a team environment
4)Ability to work simple mathematics calculations
5)Ability to work in and around the public in a positive and professional manner
6)Ability to adapt to priority changes of work flow
7)Ability to think clearly under high pressure or in emergency situations
8)Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
9)Ability to achieve positive results through Quality Sciences
DESIRABLE:
1)Trade school or apprenticeship in general building maintenance, HVAC and mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc fields.
2)Two years or more working in a hotel engineering environment
SKILLS:
Essential:
1)Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems and furniture repair.
2)Basic knowledge of mechanical and electronic lock systems
3)Knowledge of furniture repairs and color matching.
4)Ability to read and understand blueprints.
5)Ability to think clearly in emergency situations.
6)Ability to troubleshoot and repair most mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
7)Ability to interact positively with guests and fellow employees.
8)Ability to perform duties without direct supervision.
9)Ability to safely and properly use hand and power tools.
10)Ability to perform all duties in a team environment in a safe and orderly manner.
11)Ability to work in and around the public in a positive and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain and repair all Hotel Areas in accordance with the procedures and standard guidelines.
1) Report any unusual finding or safety hazards immediately to the Team Leader and Director of Support Services
2)Document all work performed on a room inspection sheet, work orders.
3)Perform the shift engineer's check list daily and report any abnormalities. Perform all safety tests as directed.
4)Maintain a clean and orderly shops and storage areas. Assist in the ordering and stock maintenance of all necessary tools, parts and materials.
5)Respond to guest and emergency calls within predetermined response time periods.
6)Successfully complete Training Certification Process and review all departental safety information (i.e. JHA's and MSDS's), practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel company standards.
7)Complete work orders and shop assignments in a timely manner.
8)Walk the Hotels for burnt-out light bulbs and maintenance needs.
9)Participate in the maintenance of all Records and Log Books as requested.
10) Understand and practice hotel emergency fire procedures.
11)Perform all other engineering related duties assigned by the supervisor. Offer lateral service to internal/external customer when available.
12)Maintain safe conditions in work area and other associated areas.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
1)Participate in departmental problem solving teams during weekly and monthly core or as needed meetings.
2)Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor(s); assist other departments by providing latereal service when possible.
