About the Job
Reddy Ice, the nation's largest manufacturer and distributor of packaged ice, is seeking a Maintenance Technician III.
The Maintenance Technician III is a master journeyman level maintenance person with expertise in maintenance responsibilities for the reliable operation and maintenance of the plant’s manufacturing systems and physical property. Included activities are preventive maintenance, equipment trouble shooting, tool identification and usage, and small physical property repairs. Additional activities may also include operating equipment to continue to improve processing times and decrease downtimes.
Responsibilities:- Conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment; troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.
- May be responsible for operating processing machinery and reducing downtime of equipment in the facility.
- Expertise in the application of blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation for the proper maintenance of manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Expertise in Water Plant Operations and Maintenance to include the following equipment: Ice Makers, Compressors, Heat Exchangers, Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration Systems, Pumps, Condensers, and Compressors
- Ensures that manufacturing equipment is functional and supplies are ready.
- Ordering and Inventory control of repair parts and ready service equipment for the safe and optimal function of the plant.
- Tests production quality by visually inspecting ice for clarity, cube size, and hole space.
- Expertise in root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation.
- Minor facility and building grounds maintenance including changing lightbulbs, painting, and minor plant structural repairs.
- Ability to instruct and coach others in the usage of tools and equipment to conduct general facility maintenance.
- This position may be required to assist with bagging product and occasionally directs production workflow based on production equipment output.
- Advanced understanding of production flow systems and equipment.
- Can conduct advanced electrical and electronic systems maintenance without supervision. Identify and bring opportunities for continuous process improvement to Operation Manager’s attention.
- Without guidance can implement daily kaizen for rapid improvement.
- Able to lead performance improvement activities thru maintenance countermeasures.
- Complete safety checklists as required by the Safety/Risk Management Department.
- Expertise in the application and control of lock out/tag out requirements; can teach others in the proper usage of LOTO.
- Advanced understanding of PLC programing and robotics troubleshooting
- Advanced computer usage skills and the ability to coach others in the use of computer programs to facilitate maintenance activities.
- Able to identify, monitor and correct issues regarding industrial health and safety
- Advanced application of Electrical and Chemical Safety measures and controls.
- Advanced understanding in the application and controls of Work Authorization Techniques and Management

Although this position may be asked to assist with directing production workflow, it is an individual contributor position and does not have any direct reports. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
1. 5-10 years of work experience in an industrial maintenance operation
2. High school diploma or GED
3. Maintenance Certification from ONE of the following:
- Programmable Logic Controller Certification- Electronics Technicians Association International
- Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Disciplines- State Certifying Authority
- Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator- Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association
- Certified Maintenance Technician Level III- International Maintenance Institute
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician- Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals
Preferred:
1. 8+ years of work experience in an industrial maintenance operation
2. Associates of Science Degree from an accredited College or University with an emphasis in Maintenance, Engineering, Industrial Technology
3. Completion of TWO of the following Certifications:
- Programmable Logic Controller Certification- Electronics Technicians Association International
- Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Disciplines- State Certifying Authority
- Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator- Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association
- Certified Maintenance Technician Level III- International Maintenance Institute
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician- Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Conditions vary from normal office conditions to all areas inside and outside of plant. Exposure to extreme temperature fluctuations, electrical hazards, ammonia and heavy moving equipment. The job requires working nights and weekends with occasional travel. Overtime may be required. Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through complex business situations is essential. Requires an eye for detail and ability to organize. Must be able to work with both hand and heavy electric tools and lift a minimum of 45lbs.
