SUMMARY:
Performs various construction and maintenance duties including but not limited to: repair of paved and unpaved areas, improved and unimproved grounds and fences, motorized and non-motorized equipment maintenance, and building maintenance. Operates heavy equipment and performs airfield inspections at three general aviation airports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Grass mowing, weed-eat (trimming), pickup trash, plant grass and water shrubs, lawns, and new plantings, weed flower beds. Prune, chip and trim/remove trees, maintain and operate push and riding mowers, sprayers, and hand-held tools.
- Removal and placement of concrete and asphalt, joint repairs of runways, taxiways, ramps, streets, roads, and sidewalks.
- Clean and repair drainage systems.
- Sign installation/repair and fence installation/repair.
- Operate numerous types of light and heavy equipment used at the airport.
- Perform airfield inspections, as well as maintain and repair, including lighting systems, pavement, obstructions, and security fencing/gates.
- Performs basic maintenance tasks based upon specialized knowledge and skills to include basic carpentry, mechanical and electrical tasks.
- Repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Comply with all SARAA directives, including safety standards.
- Performs all of the work and duties of an Airport Worker 1.
- Perform snow removal operations which include being knowledgeable and proficient in snow techniques and operating various types of snow removal equipment.
- Performs complementary customer service functions consistent with Airport Customer Service Standards.
- Performs any other duty or assignment delegated by proper authority.

Education and Experience:
Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Must be able to pass FAA Training as required.
Required Licenses, Certificates, Conditions:
A valid PA driver’s license with a good driving record or ability to obtain PA license within 30 days of hire date. Must possess or obtain within 6 months of hire, a Pennsylvania Class B CDL w/airbrakes driver license. Ability to pass a 10-year background and criminal investigation in order to be issued Airport Identification Badge.

Ability to comprehend, retain, and follow oral and written instructions. Must exercise good judgment, work independently, make decisions, organize and maintain detailed information. Must effectively set priorities. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations without precedent.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, talk and hear, taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, and must be able to distinguish full visual color spectrum. May be required to wear a respirator or other protective clothing while performing an assigned task. Must be able to work in confined spaces, and heights. Must be able to work around all type of insects. Requires working with hazardous materials.
Work Environment:
While performing essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme outside weather conditions, fumes, and airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, working in precarious places, with risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Language and Communication Skills:
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language. Ability to establish effective working relationships with subordinates. Regularly communicates with supervisors, co-workers, FAA tower operators, other internal departments, contractors, and consultants. Uses ground and maintenance radio communication equipment, requiring correct terminology and ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic math skills.
Computer Skills:
Basic skills preferred.
