A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAITENANCE TECHNICIAN
This position is responsible performing routine and emergency maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on equipment and general building repairs across all VNAHSR facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and building systems.
- Address and resolve general building issues including plumbing leaks, electrical faults, and HVAC malfunctions. The extent of work will not require licensure or certifications unless under the direct supervision of a qualified licensed technician.
- Identify and report any malfunctioning equipment, defective materials, or unusual situations to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Perform carpentry, painting, and other repair tasks to maintain the appearance and functionality of the facility.
- Repair and maintain building infrastructure, including drywall, flooring, ceilings, and doors.
- Assist with set up of employee workspaces, including adjusting existing workspaces as needed.
- Review and understand equipment manuals and work orders to carry out the necessary maintenance and service tasks.
- Collaborate with contractors as necessary and assess their performance in accordance with the contract requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED. Completion of a craft apprenticeship or an equivalent number of years of education and facilities experience.
- 1-2 years previous experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Specialized experience in the construction, plumbing, electrical fields, etc. necessary to perform the variety of maintenance tasks preferred.
- Certifications in safety with a particular focus on VOSHA preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment adult, child abuse, background checks and driver record review required. Must show proof of auto insurance prior to employment.
