Jonathan Child Apartments is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to work every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (27 hours per week)
JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for general maintenance and repair at Jonathan Child and grounds as assigned. In addition, this position provides assistance including general maintenance, repair and handiwork necessary to meet the residents’ needs.
POSITION REPORTS TO: Administrator
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Ensure supplies have been replenished in bathrooms, kitchen, common areas, medication room, nurses’ office, and administrator office daily.
· Ensure that the facility is properly maintained for resident comfort, convenience, and safety.
· Assist with move ins/outs.
· Remove trash in the community, bathrooms, front vestibule, laundry room and kitchen
· Empty outside trash receptacles when necessary.
· Take trash out on each floor (3 floors) daily.
· Spray down garbage bins outside weekly.
· Assist with snow removal and salting as needed.
· Sweep / mop all garbage rooms.
· Sweep / mop stairwells and hallways.
· Vacuum all common area rugs daily.
· Sweep / mop laundry room daily.
· Clean first floor bathrooms daily (including dining room bathroom)
· Take an active role in fire drills.
· Check apartment fire extinguishers monthly.
· Check water temperatures monthly.
· This position is responsible to know, understand and follow maintenance, policies and procedure (including covid protocols).
· Keep tools and equipment in good repair.
- Report any unresolved resident issues to supervisory staff.
- Wipe down elevators daily.
- Comply with all facility in-service requirements.
· Wear departmental uniform on a daily basis.
· This position will require building / putting items together from time to time.
· Will need to assist kitchen crew from time to time with serving meals.
QUALIFICATIONS: Clean driving record. Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must be reliable. Able to perform general building repair and maintenance. Knowledgeable in OSHA regulations and state sanitary codes. Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.
EDUCATION:A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Must be able to demonstrate ability to perform the duties of the position.
