This position requires a blend of hospitality skills, empathy, and sensitivity to the unique needs of a hospice environment. The Maitre'd will manage the dining room, oversee reservations, and ensure that each meal service is carried out with the utmost care and professionalism.
What you will do
- Greet and welcome patients, their families, and visitors warmly as they enter the dining area.
- Escort guests to their tables, considering any special needs or accommodations required.
- Manage reservations and seating arrangements with sensitivity to patient schedules and family visits.
- Maintain a waitlist and communicate estimated wait times to guests, prioritizing comfort and care.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the dining room staff.
- Provide training and guidance to the waitstaff to ensure high standards of service, with a focus on compassionate care.
- Monitor dining room cleanliness and ambiance, including lighting and music, to create a serene environment.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely service, accommodating dietary needs and preferences.
- Assist Executive Chef with menu planning, purchasing, ordering, inventory, and record keeping.
- Collect feedback and relay it to the management team to continuously improve the dining experience.
- Implement strategies to enhance guest comfort and satisfaction.
- Assist in planning and executing special events and private functions, tailored to the needs of patients and their families.
- Coordinate with the hospice care team to ensure seamless service during events
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Maitre'd, host/hostess, or in a similar customer-facing role. preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Knowledge of reservation management systems and basic computer skills.
- A passion for hospitality and providing exceptional customer service.
