About the Job
As a Mammography Technologist at North Platte Valley Medical Center, you will play a vital role in our commitment to providing accurate and compassionate breast imaging services while maintaining a patient-centered approach. Your responsibilities will include performing mammography procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform mammography imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
- Obtain patient medical history, prior imaging of breasts along with reports and verify patient identification and consent prior to performing procedures.
- Position patients correctly and operate mammography equipment to obtain high-quality images of breast tissue.
- Monitor patients during imaging procedures and address any concerns or discomfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed. Including required records to maintain FDA certification.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review and interpret imaging results.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and safety protocols to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain and perform QA on mammography equipment to ensure optimal performance and quality control.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
- Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with advancements in breast imaging technology and best practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education / Experience / License and Certifications
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Certified by the State of Wyoming to practice and administer radiation.
- Experience in a hospital setting or healthcare.
- Current BLS certification, required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Additional Skills
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology\
Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
