About the Job
Responsible for the mammography tracking and reporting (MRS) computer system and the transcription of mammography reports. Coordinate loading and unloading of automated mammogram film viewer with radiologist schedule to ensure timely reading of mammograms. Works closely with the mammography technologists, sonographers, radiologists, and manager to maintain the highest level of quality in mammography.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform data entry and operate mammography reporting system (MRS) software system, entering patient demographics, examination results, and verify proper reporting of exams.
- Contacts and schedules patients needing follow-up examinations, wait list appointments, reschedules, and other appointments following template guidelines for length of time, time of day, and appointment type while following established protocols.
- Answer incoming calls and respond to all patient interactions professionally with tact, patience, and compassion according to established protocols.
- Take messages that are accurate, legible, complete with names, dates, time, phone number, and correctly route to appropriate person.
- Monitor phone cancellations, update technologist schedules, and communicate to appropriate staff.
- Facilitate obtaining imaging studies from outside facilities prior to appointment date.
- Mail appropriate instructions and reminders to patients as necessary.
- Obtain prior studies via TVC EMR.
- Retrieves studies from TVC PACS ensuring the study can be displayed.
- Back up data on MRS computer system on a regular basis to ensure data integrity.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Typing skill of at least 40 wpm.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Must be able to adjust working pace to flow of patients.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience with multi-line phone system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Medical terminology as related to Imaging exams is essential.
- Minimum of one year in a customer service position, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Pay Range:
$17.28 - $24.19
