**Eligible for $10k Sign-On Incentive
Primary Purpose: Responsible for performing routine to complex quality breast images to the standards of Parkland Health, State and Federal regulations.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology and/or Mammography program.
- Prefer graduate of an accredited Mammography Technologist program, but are willing to train registered Radiology Technologist.
Experience
Prefer two years of experience in the performance of mammography to include screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms and assisting with breast procedures.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience: None
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Must be registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
- Prefer ARRT Advanced Certification in Mammography (M).
- If hired with Radiography registry, must obtain advanced certification in Mammography (M) within 12 months of employment.
- Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Medical Board.
- Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following: American Heart Association American Red Cross Military Training Network Required Tests for Placement

- Must be able to demonstrate routine to complex positioning ability to achieve images which meet American College of Radiology criteria for appropriate views.

- Must be able to perform a team lift when setting up and removing moveable steps to the mobile mammography van.
Responsibilities
1. Performs mammography imaging of high quality for radiologists. Evaluates patient history and physicians orders to ensure appropriate procedures are performed.
2. Monitors the Quality Control Program, as mandated by MQSA and the state. Performs Quality Control (QC) checks on systems in accordance with requirements to ensure equipment functions properly. Notifies the proper personnel when QC tests are out of acceptable range.
3. Maintains proper documentation on the patient's health record to track the procedures performed on each patient.
4. Communicates and consults with patients informing them of procedures to be performed to ensure that patients are as comfortable as possible.
5. Assists physicians in special procedures (needle locations, Stereo and Sono guided core biopsies, Mammotome biopsies, galactograms, etc) as needed to ensure that all procedures are performed to the standards of Parkland Health. Accesses and handles selected medication(s) and specimen(s).
6. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of Parkland Health.
7. Provides training and supervision to radiological students as they rotate through mammography area to ensure that Radiology students are well educated and trained in assigned areas.
8. Maintains a positive working relationship with employees, medical staff, patients and visitors to ensure efficient work processes. Serves as a resource person for other mammography technologists.
9. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Mammography area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
10. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Mammography by attending seminars, reading professional journals and maintaining ARRT certification and Texas State licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
11. Participates in departmental Performance Improvement Programs, understands ICARE and it relationship to the work environment, attends department and modality meetings satisfactorily. Meets training deadlines, participates in annual goal implementation and monitoring of objectives set forth by Radiology Administration and/or Parkland Health.
