SouthCoast Health Imaging Center is looking for a Full-time Mammographer
Sign on bonus $5,000
Relocation Reimbursement up to $5,000
Under the clinical supervision of Physician or Office Manager, this position provides patient services using imaging modalities as employed. Performs majority of exams with minimal supervision. Produces two dimensional and three dimensional mammographic images for use by Physician in diagnosis of pathology of breast by performing the following duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of basic mammographic procedures, protocol, methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of latest trends and techniques in mammographic technology.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge of equipment including common safety hazards.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when conducting or assisting with diagnostic ultrasound procedures which occupies approximately 90% of work time.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Which occupies approximately 50% of work time when assisting and positioning body parts or handling/transporting supplies.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at SouthCoast.
- Selects equipment for use in mammography setup according to specifications of examination.
- Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
- Keys test data and patient information into computer of mammography equipment to maintain record of test results.
- Ensures proper information is input and saved in MERGE RIS and that images populate accurately in MERGE PACS.
- Starts equipment which produces images of breast anatomy and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film.
- Performs or assists with other clinical or non-clinical duties as assigned by Supervisor or Physician.
- Organizes daily work schedule and performs on call duties and/or works variable shifts as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
- Reports to work on a regular and consistent basis.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education.
REQUIREMENTS:
Professional registry for modality employed in, when mandated by Federal or section certifications or registry eligible (i.e. RT (R)(M)). Must maintain continued education (CE) credits as required and maintain currency of BLS/CPR certification.
