Job Summary
Oversee and manage all aspects of mine planning, drill & blast, extraction, reserves, surveying, and reclamation planning at aggregate sites within the region. Analyze geologic information to better define deposits to optimize reserves and maximize yield at the lowest cost. Coordinate with VP/GM, Area Manager, and Plant Management across multiple sites to develop/execute mine plans aligned to achieve business objectives and performance goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors and promote a culture of Zero4Life
- Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times
- Oversee development and implementation of short, medium, and long-term mine plans for sites in the region and regularly review mine plans with Operations Team
- Produce and distribute annual revisions of 5-year mine plans (5YMP) for each site that provides mine progression plan in accordance with existing and planned permits and meets annual extraction volume requirements for plant throughput
- Ensure that the property boundaries, permit limits, extraction limits, depth limits, and reclamation requirements are clearly delineated and communicated to plant management
- Plan and manage drill & blast activities, including blast design to ensure proper fragmentation and maintain compliance with applicable regulations
- Maintain accurate and organized blast records in accordance with regulations and maintain proactive relationship with regulators
- Plan and monitor dragline movements in coordination with mine plan and drill & blast activities
- Prepare monthly reports for dragline extraction volumes based on survey data
- Plan, schedule, and prepare reports for weekly, monthly, and semi-annual WIP and finished inventory
- Manage reclamation plans, review plan with Environmental and Plant Managers and develop plans to reclaim mined areas in conformance with approved plans.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-volume operations in a mine planning, mine engineering, and/or geology role
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or Geology, PE preferred
- Experience in open pit, dragline operations, and/or wet mining
- Previous team leadership experience preferred
- Four-year college degree with a Mining Engineering or Geology degree; Master’s degree a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in AutoCAD, ArcMap, Excel, MS Project, & Google Earth. Working knowledge of Surpac, a plus
- Ability to work on multiple projects at multiple sites simultaneously with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with drones with FAA Part 107 certification, a plus
- Knowledge and experience with GPS survey equipment and surveying standards
- Advanced MS-Office and PowerPoint skills, with emphasis on Excel
- SAP experience preferred
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Must be able to clearly speak and write in English, bilingual in Spanish, a plus
- Strong networking ability
- Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment
Working Conditions
- Capability to work extended hours as necessary
- Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
- At times, requires working in hot, dusty, or wet conditions with exposure to loud noises
Physical Requirements
- Requries walking, sitting, lifting, pushing and pulling to a significant degree
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
- Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
