SUMMARY:
Field manager of Railroad Engineering Services bridge crews working throughout the US performing maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of concrete, steel, and timber structures. Solely responsible for the daily safety, efficiency, and quality of all bridge projects with an emphasis on planning to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, project planning, oversight of project execution, crew training and development, and employee conduct. The field manager is expected to step in and assist the work when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct pre-trips of assigned projects to ensure the material quantities and scope of work are accurate and complete for the conditions in the field.
· Ensure crews have all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to perform daily duties as safely and efficiently as possible
· Check the quality of work performed and adjust training and expectation to correct any deficiency
· Set short term goals to ensure crew efficiency and project budgets are maintained
· Coordinate with Regional, Railroad and local management teams to ensure schedules and timelines are met
· Manage safety and regulatory compliance of employees
· Report daily production via email and electronic asset management system
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of railroad bridge inspection, construction, or management experience
- Experience with heavy equipment including, but not limited to excavators, loaders, backhoes, and truck mounted cranes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Working knowledge of industry standards and FRA regulations related to Railroad Engineering disciplines and Railroad Bridges in particular
- Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with Regional, Railroad, and corporate leadership
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills based on engineering principles and practices
- Up to 100% travel required and ability to work non-standard schedule as needed
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
- High school diploma required
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
· CDL A License
· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
