About the Job
Orlando Health is recruiting a Manager for our Corporate Pet Therapy Program. This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all pet therapy activities at all Orlando Health locations, supporting all internal and external activities related to pet therapy, including the coordination of pet therapy volunteer teams, on-boarding, and creating partnership with the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and develop Pet Therapy Volunteers and expand the impact of the program across the enterprise.
- Create innovative ways to connect Pet Therapy volunteers’ passion with the Organization’s needs.
- Collaborate with other well-being programs to complement, enhance, or improve services and resources as we care for and about our team members.

Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Manages and participates the pet therapy volunteers team responsible for patient visits, rounding, community outreach, team member events, presentations, development of content, and program enhancement, development, and growth.
- Ensures timely and effective pet therapy fulfillment of requests, visits, rounding, events, and any other initiatives aligned with the mission and vision of Orlando Health.
- Responsible for the on-boarding process of new pet therapy teams by conducting interviews, assessments, orientations, on site/off site training, ongoing skill, handling development, testing, and coaching at all Orlando Health facilities.
- Plans, assigns, checks, and approves the work of all pet therapy teams and reports in areas that impact and influence the program outcomes and productivity levels.
- Introduces content, frameworks, and tools geared towards program effectiveness, productivity, and impact within the organization.
- Oversight and monitors pet therapy program budgets.
- Measures the program’s impact and effectiveness by utilizing validated instruments and executes changes as deemed appropriate.
- Identifies and manages changes and improvements that add value to the program within the evolving healthcare environment while preventing any impact on the organization as a whole Implements the mission, values, strategies, structures and resources needed to meet future growth goals and services provided through the program.
- Shadow and mentor new pet therapy teams, and/or coordinate for existing teams to do shadowing and mentoring.
- Coordinate all applications, interviews and on boarding of new volunteer teams and maintain records.
- Maintain a system wide tracking and registration system and maintain resource box.
- Coordinate and supervise pet therapy visits at all Orlando Health hospitals.
- Oversee the ordering of all supplies needed for the program including but not limited to, pet calling cards, uniforms, bandanas, marketing materials, coloring books, posters and appropriate signage and event materials.
- Maintain and update pet therapy orientation manual, update marketing materials, and track pet therapy team coverage at all hospitals.
- Support quarterly socials and trainings for teams and their dogs.
- Contribute to a quarterly newsletter to summarize program activities and highlight new teams.
- Respond to all inquiries from people interested in the Pet Program.
- Coordinate pet therapy team attendance at internal corporate events, community, and team member appreciation events.
- Coordinate with Orlando Health social media so that pet therapy has a presence both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with area trainers, and evaluators, others involved with dogs and related organizations to help direct people to the Program.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Attend area dog related conferences, dog shows, and other dog related community activities.
- Prepare and submit magazine articles and blogs to help promote Program in the community.
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s Degree or five (5) years of business development or program management experience in lieu of degree.
- Five (5) years of Canine Behavioral Assessment and/or training preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Certification with an accredited pet therapy national association preferred
Experience
- Five (5) years of pet therapy experience and/or engaging in pet therapy related activities.
- Five (5) years developing and implementing strategies to sustain growth in a program.
