Position: Manager, Engineering
Business Unit: Infectious Disease – Lateral Flow
Location: Westbrook, Maine
Role Overview: The Manager, Engineering will provide tactical leadership within the Engineering organization, including cross-functional leadership by supporting production and product transfer activities and working within Quality Management Systems. This management position may represent Engineering during internal and external company business meetings.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide engineering leadership supporting validations, new process and equipment design and development to support new product offerings and driving efficiency at the equipment and process level.
- Serve as the primary resource for understanding top manufacturing equipment losses and scrap reduction.
- Respond to production equipment issues, corrective and preventative action items, and lead or assist in determining product/process failure root causes potentially related to manufacturing processes.
- Assist in proactive programs to raise standards in areas such as Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), control plans for equipment and facility failures, emergency response planning, and safety and machine guarding.
- Drive the introduction of and skill development in the application of Lean and Six Sigma tools, implementation of Statistical Process Control monitoring programs, and measurement and improvement in process capability and variation reduction.
- Identify best practices and industry standards for manufacturing engineering, controls engineering, equipment design and development, and assist in maintenance programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Plan, assign, and manage work; conduct performance reviews; address complaints; and resolve problems.
- Prioritize work and delegate long-term projects as well as day-to-day tasks.
- Ensure cross-functional communication and planning with other department supervisors and leads.

Physical Demands:
- The position of Manager, Engineering includes performing the following physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, related to essential job functions:
- Regularly traverse large areas of production floors.
- Regularly ascend/descend ladders to service or inspect equipment components.
- Regularly operate office technology.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
- Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience in providing engineering support to production.
- Prior experience managing equipment design and development related to high-speed manufacturing processes, automation, fixtures, and set-up reduction.
- Prior experience in facility design and layout and/or cellular manufacturing is preferable.
- Knowledge of database software, design software, development software, internet software, inventory software, manufacturing software, project management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
Preferred
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt training or certification.
- Experience with a mix of in-house development and contract management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cGMPs and FDA regulations as they pertain to process engineering.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
