Summary of Position

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources and working closely in collaboration with Clyde’s operations management team, the EHS Manager is responsible for research, development, implementation and continuous year over year improvement of Clyde’s EHS programs to build a successful, self-sustaining safety culture that promotes and protects the well-being of employees and ensure effective compliance with applicable governmental regulations.

Essential Job Functions

1. In all things, rigorously pursue a continuous improvement, collaborative engagement, "best possible practices" and a data driven, informed perspective.
2. With senior management, develop EHS strategy, deliverables and KPIs to build and embed a self-sustaining safety culture. Communicate plan to all Clyde’s employees. Implement plan to meet or beat industry benchmarks and YOY performance.
3. Research, as needed, changing landscape of local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, waste management, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials handling to determine all Clyde’s-applicable compliance requirements. Implement programs to ensure compliance.
4. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify environmental, physical plant, and employee behavioral risks. Develop corrective actions and controls plans to resolve non-conformances, restore safe, compliant conditions, and institute self-sustaining disciplines.
5. Elevate rigor, quality and timeliness of EHS data analytics, record keeping, and reporting.
6. Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels that (1) satisfy compliance programs, (2) genuinely increase knowledge and awareness, and (3) drive behavioral change.
7. Lead investigation efforts of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
8. Implement effective and practical emergency response plans, procedures and drills.
9. Support operations management in oversight and administration of environmental compliance programs, including waste management, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials handling.
10. Complies with all Food Safety Requirements including GMPs when in production areas and reports all food safety or quality issues to supervisor or Food Safety department.

Qualifications

Required

1. Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar scope EHS management role.
3. In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
4. Demonstrated experience developing safety programs and achieving results.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Effective communicator and trainer.
7. A strong bias to be on the floor versus in the office.

Preferred But Not Required

1. Bi-lingual Spanish.
2. Food industry experience - conversant with Food Safety Requirements, GMPs, HACCP.
3. EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, CSHM, ASP, OHST, SMS, GSP, CET, REM, CPEA.
4. Training in Lean, six sigma, continuous improvement.
