About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Events & Operations Manager in the Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities department at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville (HCCA). The HCCA hosts over 260 event days annually, stimulating economic activity throughout the community. This is a fast-paced environment where planning, organization, attention to detail and a sense of urgency are essential.
What you’ll be doing:
Managing and coordinating daily work activities of the Facilities Operations team (4) Labor Crew Leaders, (5.75) FT Laborers and (15) Temp/seasonal Laborers.
Set schedule for assigned staff and contract vendors.
Manage waste programs (trash & recycling) throughout the facility.
Plan for, coordinate and manage all venue event changeovers.
Manage asset inventory; supplies, tools equipment, etc.
Assist with the design, updates and implementation of all venue safety plans; staff training, evacuation, fire, shelter in place, weather, active shooter etc.
- Propose, budget for and manage small-medium facility upgrade projects.
- Advance, and coordinate event needs with clients for assigned events.
- Communicate event needs with venue staff and ensure proper execution of assigned events.
Salary: $66,293

About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:
Bachelor’s Degree; or a minimum of 3 years experience in event or operations management
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
Possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR within six months of hire
Possess or be able to obtain Certified Crowd Manager certificate within six months of hire

Work Schedule: Schedule will vary based on events. A standard non-event day is 8am - 4:30 pm. Event dates may require longer shifts and will occur on evenings , weekends and some holidays. Occasional overnight work will be required.
