Our Finance headquarters are located in Scottsdale AZ US and Winnipeg MB CA, where the accounting function is performed centrally for our facilities in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Generating over $3.0 billion in sales, the successful candidate will be exposed to accounting and operations on a global scale and build the unique knowledge and expertise of one of the world’s largest independent aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Director, External Reporting the successful candidate will assist in the preparation and audit of our external quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, as well as the annual preparation of financial statements for locations outside of North America. The position will research accounting guidance and best practices on accounting standards and the subsequent adoption and implementation into our financial statements. The candidate will maintain a continuous improvement mindset to seek opportunities to streamline the reporting process.
Position Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, consolidate, analyze and reconcile financial information from multiple general ledgers for use in preparation of external financial statements and other regulatory disclosures.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated quarterly and annual Financial Statements and MD&A.
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and reporting of foreign legal entities.
- Review and analyze financial information for compliance with corporate policies and internal controls.
- Perform financial statement variance analysis on consolidated basis
- Keep current of emerging US GAAP and IFRS regulations, assess, and participate in adoption and implementation.
- Research and assist in preparation of technical accounting memos on various accounting issues for use by internal business units.
- Coordinate activities with external and internal auditors to ensure timely and accurate financial statement audits.
Position Requirements:
- University degree in commerce, business administration, or related field: or equivalent.
- Recognized accounting designation (CPA) or expected immediate completion of designation
- 3+ years in a financial accounting role
- Excellent time management and attention to deadlines
- Strong organizational, analytical, decision making, oral and written communication skills
Preferred Characteristics:
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and the ability to research (knowledge of US GAAP is an asset)
- Proficient in the use of Excel and Word, Oracle system experience is an asset
