Overview:The Manager of Ice Operations reports to the Director of Operations. This position will be responsible for effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the Ice Surface at UBS Arena. Responsibilities include maintaining a NHL quality ice sheet. In addition, this position will be required to be the liaison between the NHL Club and facility operations at UBS Arena. The Ice Operations Manager will also work with the arena utility staff and overall event operations. The ideal candidate must have experience in making NHL ready ice sheets, overseeing arena ice crews, and maintaining ice resurfacing machines.
This role pays a yearly wage of $695,000 to $110,000

Responsibilities:- Work with team personnel to create the best possible ice sheet for games and practices
- Maintain the ice sheet also when in other event configurations
- Continually monitor conditions of the facility at any time ice is installed
- Maintain a log book for facility temperature and humidity conditions
- Work with all building trades to make sure the ice is in optimum playing condition
- Maintain a checklist of supplies for any component of the ice that might need attention
- Run day-to-day ice operations at UBS Arena during hockey season.
- Install and maintain an NHL quality ice sheet and painting/logos.
- Ownership over complete arena hockey game setup working closely with the conversion staff, including dashers, plexi, goals, protective nets, etc.
- Manage ice recoveries, ice removal, maintenance, and preparation for conversions.
- Schedule and manage NHL/Islanders game day related staff including ice crew, drivers, and shovelers.
- Maintain Olympia ice resurfacers and related equipment and systems.
- Oversee conversion crew with event setups and breakdowns throughout the arena and property, including non-hockey events.
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing the operations for an ice rink or multipurpose facility
- Extensive knowledge of ice rink operations, facility maintenance, Olympia ice resurfacer operation, and a general understanding of ice rink refrigeration systems and safety practices.
- Successfully complete US Ice Rinks and Certified Ice Technician Program
- Minimum 5 years of experience driving ice resurfacing machines for an NHL team.
- Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
- Organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal Arena Operations staff as well as event-related and promoter personnel.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
