About the Job
Manage and coordinate the procurement and utilization of incentives and credits for the Kroger enterprise. Assist in the evaluation and negotiation of agreements and incentive packages to reduce capital costs and real estate taxes. Oversee the company's tax incentive compliance portfolio, including engagement with co-sourcing firm to monetize the future benefits for the enterprise. - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, real estate or business administration
- 5+ years of experience in finance, tax incentives, public accounting, real estate, law or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of incentive programs offered in various jurisdictions
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as after-tax discounted cash flows, internal rate of return
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to prioritize/multi-task while providing accurate/on-time results
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism
- Strong attention to detail
- Outstanding organization skills
- CPA and/or MBA
- Any experience with economic development negotiation and compliance tax credits and incentives within the public or private sector
- Advocate the value and use of incentives and credits throughout the enterprise
- Serve as a resource to the enterprise of types of incentives and credits available in various jurisdictions
- Facilitate close communication with Regional Real Estate Directors, Corporate Logistics, Manufacturing, and local divisions to identify projected and upcoming projects to secure federal/state and local financial offsets
- Conduct research to assist in identifying federal, state or local incentives opportunities (e.g., sales tax sharing, property tax abatement, tax incremental financing, grants, etc.)
- Prepare various financial analyses outlining the economic impacts for projects and value proposition for each project and collaborate with department and division executives
- Assist in presenting projects and attending state and local city council meetings
- Manage multiple department workstreams for data collection /retention required for federal, state and local compliance reporting
- Manage technology database to document pursuit projects
- Support compliance out-sourcing for tax incentives including transitioning future projects
- Complete initial review of compliance reporting for tax incentive portfolio
- Travel independently up to 10%
